Cigar Chicago

It’s been way too long, hasn’t it? Is monthly really too often? I don’t know, but a gap of 2 1/2 months is way too fucking long!

This is what I know.

February sucks, and not in that good kind of way. So to give us all something to look forward to at the end of it, we’re going to have a smoker on the last Sunday, the 24th of February: 6:30-10:00 at Blue Havana. Kick back with a cigar or two and cigar camaraderie with other kinky cigar lovers. As always, we’re taking over the shop after hours, so it’s just us. This month there’s no booze demo (I know, I know – scheduling conflicts, we’ll have her back next time…), so be sure to plan your BYOB. Bring some whisky, bring some chocolate, but mostly bring yourself. We’ll have Angie and McTrouble bootblacking for us, a fantastic humidor, and as always, good company.

Like a munch, it’s free to attend, but show the venue we appreciate them hosting us and patronize them: buy a cigar. Or two. Or accessories. Or something.

For those who have never used the services of a bootblack before, they do their work for the dedication of the service and the service to leather, but also generally to raise money for various causes, so you should go into having your boots done expecting to tip them. In this case, Angie is raising funds for her and her Owner’s title bid – competing for a leather title gets expensive with all the travel involved – so please consider being generous.

I really love things that are different. Things that de-mystify, take you behind the curtain (so to speak), provide a unique experience without having to actually commit. Like trying a real tattoo but without the time, cost, or permanence.

Hey wait. Tattoos….

I got to thinking: what about tattoos? Personally, I’ve always wanted one, but I don’t know how I’d feel about actually getting one (remember my “don’t hurt the Dom” rule). Maybe I’m too big a sissypants to get one. Seems the only way to find out if you want to get one is to actually get one. There’s no way to just… try it.

So I thought, let’s fix that.

I have a long-time buddy, Bob Jones (seriously, not in Witness Protection), who has a tattoo shop and piercing studio. I ran this by him and he was like “dude, that sounds totally cool. I’m in.” That was all I needed.

What’s a blank tattoo?

I always wondered what it felt like getting a tattoo. Could someone just run a tattoo machine with water, no ink, on me for a few minutes to see exactly what it’s like? Who’s going to walk into a shop and ask a busy artist to waste his or her time like that?

Apparently, I am. On behalf of all of you.

Real tattoo machine, real needles, real tattoo artist. Just no ink in the machine. You like it, you can go on and get a real tattoo. You don’t like it, no harm no foul. Well, maybe some blood. Waddya, wanna live forever?

A Great Shop

Even if you already have ink, if you don’t know these guys, you should. Bob’s whole vision for Insight Studios was to make a shop that’s not intimidating, not dark and scary to walk into, and that’s what he built. You should come and check it out if you’ve never been, or come hang out if you already know them.

Tattoo Removal

I remember hanging with Bob in the 90’s at a shop where he used to work; he was watching all the people getting the trendy tribal work done, and saying that half those people were going to need those removed one day. He wanted to open a shop that not only did tattoos, but did removal too. His shop is currently the only tattoo shop in Illinois doing tattoo removal too. (You should see the laser. It’s freaking cool. Sadly, no sharks.)

One of the classes I get asked about for Rough Crowd all the time is CBT (Cock and Ball Torture), and I keep telling people – it’s not my bag, baby… no pun intended.

Rough Crowd February: Taking the month off

Rough Crowd

Rough Crowd has been running continuously every month since 2011. W00t!!

This February will mark the first month we’re going to miss: while I try very hard to accomodate everyone and juggle things around (you know how sometimes Rough Crowd happens on a different weekend?), I’m actually booked out of town every single weekend in February.

So while I go spread the joy, you take a month and put your feet up, rejoyce in not going out in the snow and cold, and snuggle up by the fire. Ideally, naked, with someone else naked who you think is even sexier than you are (and you are sexy, you beast!).

Give your loved one a consensual and loving smack, and we’ll see you in March.
