Cigar Chicago July Cigar Chicago is back… again!

Smoker Date: Sunday, July 19, 2015

Our next smoker is Sunday, July 19, 2015, 7:30 pm – 10:00 pm at Blue Havana.

Blue Havana is open in their new home, and we’re ready to start up on a semi-regular schedule again. It’s been a little while, and things are a little different, so we’re going to have to see how it goes.

The shop is open, and their humidor is actually bigger and more well-stocked than it was before. We have a back space that is completely private – and that means we don’t have to behave quite as nicely as we did when we were surrounded by huge windows. We ask that people still be respectful of others who are there and who might not want play right next to where they’re relaxing with a cigar, but if you want to do some cigar play, or take off your clothes (no naked butts on furniture – bring a towel to sit on)… that can be done now.

As always, we just ask that you buy from the shop. As with any munch or slosh, what the shop brings in is why it’s worth it for them to host us.

Here’s the regular blurb. Hope to see you there.

Kick back with a cigar or two and cigar camaraderie with other kinky cigar lovers. As always, we’re taking over the shop after hours, so it’s just us.

We’re BYOB, so feel free bring your favorite whisky or other spirit and share the love with your friends; who knows, you might just find a new favorite for your bar, too. Or bring some chocolate… but mostly bring yourself.

Patronize Our Host Shop
Like a munch, Cigar Chicago smokers are free to attend, but show the shop we appreciate them letting us use their space and patronize them: they have a fantastic humidor, so buy a cigar. Or two. Or accessories. Or something. (To make it easier, Blue Havana is now extending Cigar Chicago 10% off things purchased during the smoker.)

Who is Welcome
All genders, ages, experience levels, races, shoe sizes, sexual orientations and preferences, partnership status, poly, D/s, M/s, height, eye color, religions, pet preferences, fitness levels, tax brackets, and pizza topping choices are welcome (even all veggie pizza, if that’s your thing; your pizza is not my pizza, and that’s OK).

Bottom line: if you think this sounds interesting, then yes, it is for you. While couples and groupings are always encouraged to come together (hey, isn’t that always nice?), it’s not a requirement to have a partner to come.

Rough Crowd April: Horrible Things To Do To People’s Heads

Rough Crowd Date: Sunday, April 12, 2015

Say you have someone in a box, and only their head is sticking out. You know, like happens. What do you do? What are some deliciously horrible things to do to them?

Come to Rough Crowd and we’ll look at delightfully horrible things to do to people’s heads. Granted, not all of them will be utterly horrible, and we sadly won’t have a box to put someone in – you’ll have to use your imagination on that part (I know some of you are already…).

Bringing your own play partner is always awesome, but not required; while couples and groupings are always encouraged to come together (hey, isn’t that always nice?), it’s not a requirement to have a partner to come to Rough Crowd.

All genders, ages, experience levels, races, shoe sizes, sexual orientations and preferences, religions, pet preferences, fitness levels, tax brackets, partnership status, poly, D/s, M/s, height, eye color, and pizza topping choices are welcome (even all veggie pizza, if that’s your thing; your pizza is not my pizza, and that’s OK).

If you’re into rough body play, or if you think this sounds interesting, then yes, it *is* for you. Come to Rough Crowd for overview, instruction, and practice time. Safety and technique will be first, and then ideas and practice time. No experience necessary; you’ll have some by the time you leave.

Cigar Chicago April — POSTPONED

Smoker Date: Friday, April 10, 2015

It is with deep deep regret that I have to inform everyone that we have to postpone the smoker. I know… I know. Believe me I know.

We were coming in to the shop before they were open this time (that’s why it was BYOC), as a private event. They got their license from the city faster than we’d thought, and while the good news is the shop is now open, the bad news is the city works piece by piece, and they don’t have their occupancy permit for the lounge space yet. There’s no place to smoke there until that permit is in.

It’s not a big deal; that should come along in the next few weeks, the owner is going to let me know the moment they have the permit, and we’re going to pick a Sunday night to go back and have the official smoker, expanded humidor and all. But we’ve unfortunately landed in the awkward middle space between a private space, and a newly licensed but not completely open space, and we now have to wait.

Don’t worry. We’ll be back on shortly and for the foreseeable future, and spring and summer are going to be a blast.

In the meantime, if you’re looking to get your boots done, the LRA has revived their munch/bootblacking night, and you might want to check them out https://fetlife.com/events/336181.

Keep an eye here – more news as it happens. See you all soon.

Our next smoker is Friday, April 10, 2015, 8:00 pm – 11:00 pm at Blue Havana.

After a winter’s hiatus, our smoker is back!

Blue Havana, our old home, is gone. Finding a place to do everything we want has been grueling, and we finally found one: the NEW Blue Havana!

Along with the changes at Blue Havana, there will be changes to how we run our smoker. For starters, the new location and new ownership mean we have a private smoking lounge all to ourselves, so we can hang out and also do more cigar play! We have privacy!

Blue Havana isn’t formally open yet; this is a pre-opening smoker. As such, their humidor (even bigger and better stocked than before) is NOT available yet; there will be no tobacco for sale this time – it’s a city licensing thing. This time, and this time only, it’s going to be not only BYOB, but also BYOC. Bring those sticks from home you’ve been dying to smoke, bring your travel humidor and swap with friends.

There will be more changes to come as we roll out. But for now, come back, join friends, have a drink and light up. Hang out on a Friday evening, come see the new store, the new private lounge, the outdoor space we’ll have access to when the weather turns nicer.

The new shop is located at:

Blue Havana
3240 N Clark St
Chicago IL 60657

Street meter parking only.

(Since we won’t be buying from the shop, there will be a donation jar set out to help the shop with opening expenses. Please be sure to make a donation if you can and help our new old home!)

Rough Crowd March: 50 Shades of Reality: Introduction to The World of Kink and BDSM

Rough Crowd Date: Sunday, March 15, 2015

The world of BDSM is very real, and not surprisingly, Hollywood does about as good a job at accurately depicting kink and BDSM as it does portraying the real life of being a cowboy, fireman, or soldier… which is to say, it generally doesn’t. But that’s OK – thats not Hollywood’s job. So when you want to learn more about the realities of kink and BDSM, where can you turn? What is it really like? Do you have to be a weird millionaire? Is it all so … forceful and rapey?

It turns out, no. The world of kink, and the kink community, are real and built on a culture of consent, mutual respect, clearly negotiated power exchange, and explicit communication between partners and players.

If you’d like to learn a little more about the realities of kink and BDSM in a friendly, open, non-threatening space, take a first step and come join us for this very special edition of Rough Crowd.

SPECIAL NOTE TO EXPERIENCED KINKY PEOPLE: Please, pass this along to your kink-curious vanilla friends, or better yet, invite them along and come with them to help them feel comfortable. There has never been a better time to get more honest and real information out to the curious-but-misinformed masses!

Rough Crowd is held in the middle of a Sunday afternoon in a real working dungeon (though it won’t be while we’re there!). There are zero expectations – street clothes and jeans are fine, and the day is focused on education and talking – nobody will be expected to do anything that makes them uncomfortable.
